Concept Engineering, along with Barr Ryder Architects, has been awarded the contract for the design of Fort Saskatchewan's latest senior assisted living development. The new design will be part of the Fort Saskatchewan Health Centre site redevelopment. Fort Saskatchewan City Council designated approximately 3 acres of the nearly 11 acres site currently reserved for the new residence. Based on a recent seniors housing need assessment the building is to be a 90 unit lodge to replace the existing 58 units at Dr. Turner Lodge. Furthermore, when the need and funding arise the residence is designed to accommodate future expansion of both a 30 unit apartment building and a 30 unit assisted living addition. Finally, the lodge is designed to meet LEED Silver requirements and construction of the new facility could begin before the end of 2012.
